Highlights of What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will ensure efficient and effective inventory management processes, including preparation, regulatory and compliance, brokerage, shipping, receiving, and warehousing in Japan. A typical day will involve:
- Logistics Operations:
- Planning and executing logistics strategies to optimize supply chain processes and enhance operational efficiency for both our clients and the Company, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping/receiving processes
- Planning, directing, and coordinating the transportation, storage, and distribution of goods
- Developing and implementing logistics procedures, guidelines, and best practices to streamline operations and enhance overall productivity; staying updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and market conditions
- Warehouse Operations Management:
- Overseeing the efficient and effective operations of the warehouse facility
- Conducting regular safety inspections and training sessions to promote a safe working environment; investigating and reporting any incidents and taking appropriate corrective actions
- Inventory Management:
- Receiving, storing, and distributing goods accurately, ensuring inventory levels are maintained appropriately
- Implementing and maintaining effective inventory control systems, including regular cycle counts and efficient space utilization
- Developing forecasting plans to maintain client inventory at appropriate levels
- Shipping and Receiving:
- Coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring timely and accurate processing of orders
- Collaborating with logistics partners and carriers to coordinate transportation and delivery schedules
- Customs and Compliance Management:
- Performing and implementing all custom clearance activities; complying with industry standards and shipping regulations and laws
- Ensuring client product complies with Japan Customs regulations, requirements, and exemptions lists; conducting regulatory review
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partnering with internal teams to forecast demand, plan inventory levels, and maintain adequate stock to meet customer requirements
- Contributing to cross-functional projects related to logistics optimization, process improvement, and system implementations
- Analysis and Reporting:
- Tracking, measuring, and analyzing KPIs to evaluate the success of logistics operations
- Preparing regular reports, providing actionable insights, and making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement and achievement of results
What You’ll Bring Along
Must-Haves:
- 3+ years of experience with progressive responsibility directly relating to warehouse management, 3PL, import/export, and/or product compliance in the Transportation, Customs Clearance, Supply Chain, or Logistics industry in Japan
- Exceptional hands-on knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, logistics regulations, customs procedures, and import/export laws in Japan
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and other related software
- Ability to develop strong relationships and feedback channels
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills
- Exceptional skills in Microsoft365, including Excel, PPT, Teams, and Outlook
- Ability to communicate confidently, verbally and in writing in Japanese
- Ability to communicate confidently, verbally and in writing in English
Nice-to-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business, or a related field is an asset
- Agency or professional services experience is an asset

Where You’ll Work
The ideal candidate for this role will live and be legally able to work in Japan, and be able to reasonably commute to our warehouse near Narita International Airport.
